What is a Seder (Passover Meal)?
A Passover Seder is a meal served in Jewish homes to commence the festival of Passover. It is a service held at home as part of the Passover celebration, but as part of a teaching moment we are facilitating a corporate family Seder.
Participants will use a book called a haggadah to follow the service; which consists of storytelling, a Seder meal, prayers, and songs. The Seder is the traditional Passover meal that includes readings, drinking 4 cups of wine (grape juice), telling stories, eating special foods, singing, and other Passover traditions.
What is Passover?
Passover (Hebrew: פֶּסַח Pesach) commemorates the story of the Exodus, in which the ancient Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. Passover begins on the 15th day of the month of Nisan in the Jewish calendar, which is in spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and is celebrated for seven or eight days. It is one of the most widely observed Jewish holidays.
